Online Presentations
To view any Nellcor online presentation, your browser must have the free

Evidence suggests an important contributor to ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP)
is aspiration of contaminated secretions. Endotracheal tubes keep the glottis open,
eliminating the normal protection against aspiration. Secretions from the oropharynx
or gut pool above the cuff of the endotracheal tube. These secretions are then
aspirated around the cuff and into the lungs, potentially leading to VAP. The
Mallinckrodt Hi-Lo Evac Endotracheal Tube offers the ability to remove these subglottic
secretions.
