Nellcor was founded over two decades ago to market the first pulse oximeter and
has grown to become the world's foremost supplier of pulse oximetry. Expanding on

complete line of Airway and Temperature Management devices. Through strategic

Nellcor's Airway Management products include top brands such as
Mallinckrodt® Endotracheal Tubes, Shiley®
Tracheostomy Tubes and Nellcor Easy Cap® CO2 Detectors.
Airway products also include DAR® breathing systems and respiratory
supplies. We are continually refining and expanding our airway management products
in response to clinical needs.
Nellcor also offers clinicians a complete Temperature Management solution that
encompasses a variety of products for monitoring, preventing and treating hypothermia.
Our temperature management products include Mon-a-therm® and
IncuTemp® Temperature Probes, the Warmflo™
Fluid Warming System, and the WarmTouch® Convective Air Warming
Systems for the OR and PACU. Nellcor recently expanded the WarmTouch system
with the new 5300 Warming Unit designed specifically for use in the OR to offset
patient hypothermia.
Nellcor History and Timeline of Events
1981:
Nellcor began as a small company in Hayward, California, across the bay from
Stanford Medical Center. Merging medical science and technology, Nellcor pioneered
pulse oximetry as we know it today, and rapidly gained prominence as the worldwide
leader in pulse oximetry products.
1995:
Nellcor acquired Puritan-Bennett, a
leading producer of ventilators, oxygen therapy,sleep diagnostics and other respiratory-related
products. Company renamed Nellcor Puritan Bennett.
1997:
Nellcor Puritan Bennett purchased by Mallinckrodt Inc., a multibillion-dollar
medical products company specializing in diagnostic imaging and analgesic pharmaceuticals.
2000: Tyco International Ltd. acquired
Mallinckrodt and established Nellcor and Puritan Bennett as separate businesses under
the Tyco Healthcare umbrella.
